Last weekend was my birthday and I am a true believer in stretching it out for as long as I can!
The sun was out in all its glory…our one day of summer quite possibly.
My parents came up and we got the ferry from Greenwich to the Southbank which is a fun way to get about – although a word of warning, having insisted we sit right at the back in the open we got soaked from a lone wave!
Lunch was charcuterie and cheese boards and Champagne at the BFI (British Film Institute). The BFI is one of my favourite places in London to while away the hours curled up on their sofas.
A mad dash back to change and we were off to the highly recommended restaurant Bob Bob Ricard. I cannot sing its praises enough. Tucked away behind reflective glass doors in Soho is this fabulous restaurant. It’s designed like the Orient Express so think pure class with a splash of glamour and bling and you’re there, it’s quite literally like stepping into another world.
How can you not fall in love with somewhere that has a ‘press for champagne’ button on your table.
The service was impeccable – your glass was full before you’d even noticed that you’d drunk any – a bit Alice in Wonderland like and also a bit dangerous for getting slightly carried away!
The food…oh the food….I’m not even exaggerating when I say it was to die for!
Lobster Macaroni & Cheese
Three Birds Burger
Baked Sole in a light Lobster sauce
Eton Mess en Perle, with a marshmallow in the centre and gold leaf as garnish, it was was like an explosion of summer in a mouthful.
I’m waiting for the next special occasion to demand we go back there, I don’t want to go anywhere else, I’m still dreaming about the lobster mac and cheese.
